Welcome to Chrissies Stitchery!!! I've been cross stitching since I was 7 years old. As I grew up, I learned other skills in the domestic arts world.; sewing, crocheting, knitting, among other things. I've had many projects along the way. I've crocheted afghans, knitted shawls and even sewed together my own wedding dress. I still enjoy all those things but cross stitching is what I'm most passionate about!! It's the hobby I keep returning to when I take a break from it to work another kind of project.
Like any other young girl, I learned this hobby, with the help of my mothers loving hands, through stamped cross stitch. Somewhere along the way, I picked up counted cross stitching with Aida and haven't looked back since!!! I've gone onto designing my own as well as collecting leaflets of projects where one buys the supplies separately, cross stitching magazines and kits. Then, a friend introduced me to stitching on linen and a new avenue on this hobby was discovered!!! Of course, with each project, I gained not only experience but an opinion on the project. Which leads me to the purpose of this website and blog. I've tried Twitter for this endeavor, but find myself struggling with the character limitation.
Over the years, I have developed quite a stash of designs that I have termed "Someday I'll Do This". Last year, I realized that there were probably a lot of projects I would never get to (being a middle-aged, menopausal woman does that to you). With that shocking self-realization, I decided to pick out only those projects that were my most favorite. As I work on making a dent in my beloved stash, I will blog on my progress. problems, and/or tips I have recieved from other stitchers. I'm a big-time girlie girl, which heavily influences the kind of projects I gravitate toward. Think: Victorian, flowers and motherhood!!
I hope you enjoy this website and blog but remember, any opinion expressed here is only mine!! Feedback is always welcome but let's be gentle with each other as we're all cross stitchers here and we all have our own particular focus on this incredible hobby!!!
